    Description

Rarity: Original British camouflage from the 2nd World War "Stiegel der Holzhauer"
Truly a Trojan horse: A camouflage font with highly explosive content, which comes across as innocent in the more harmless presentation of a German Reclam booklet, but reveals its true nature soon after opened. "Stiegel der Holzhauer" was a successful product of the English "black propaganda", produced by the Division of Psychological Warfare, a subdivision of the Political Warfare Executive of the Foreign Office. In this bogus presentation or with other “false” cover titles, especially as “Illness saves” a “Dr. med. Benefit ”, the small-format font was aimed at German soldiers and armaments workers. It contained a wealth of information on how to successfully fake diseases such as jaundice and tuberculosis in order to get sick leave. The production period can be narrowed down, because the original Reclam booklet was first published in May 1943 by Reclam Verlag in Leipzig, then again in June and November. Later the ribbon was no longer printed.
My mother found this cover letter in 1943 on the railway embankment, 13 km south of Koblenz in Rhineland, the magazine has been in the family's possession since then.
British code sign H. 1059. Format: 68 x 104 mm, 116 pages including title and camouflage, paginated continuously, 18 illustrations, binding type: two brackets in the back, decorative color red. I had the bookbinder professionally rework it. The staples have been removed, instead professional thread binding.
